The Boston Celtics are going to be a problem when the playoffs start. They’re currently sitting 3rd in the Eastern Conference and in striking distance of the Raptors. In a great and competitive game against the Lakers they fell 114-112. Jason Tatum has become more aggressive and his confidence is through the roof. Tatum had a career high 41 points against one of the better defenses in the league. Daniel Theis is emerging as the guy they’ve been wanting at the center position. Theis scores when they need him and his toughness on defense is motivating the team. Jaylen Brown is also stepping his game up while picking it up on defense. Whenever Tatum is not taking over, Brown is usually there to do his thing.
Marcus Smart is the longest tenured Celtic and he’s the heart and soul of this team. Smart does everything for this team whether it’s run the point or guarding the toughest player. As long as Smart stays healthy, this Celtics team could surprise some teams. The bench only accounted for 11 points yesterday against the Lakers. When Kemba Walker return from injury; that’ll change with Smart heading up the second team. When Walker comes back, that’ll take pressure off Tatum and Brown also. With the second unit headed by Enes Kanter and Marcus Smart, they’ll provide offense. As of now, I’m predicting the Celtics to at least make the Eastern Conference Finals.
